ABOUT ME

I’m Jesse. I’m a Multiracial psychology associate (PSYA200001368) in Washington, D.C., and I provide therapeutic services to adults of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and identities.

My therapy practice is rooted in liberatory and anti-oppressive theories. These theories represent a commitment to social justice and social change within therapy. While I work with all types of people, I have a particular interest in providing services to those who identify as multiracial; BIPOC navigating predominantly white spaces; addressing issues of identity, family, relationships, and multicultural concerns. I also enjoy helping people in the midst of major life transitions - such as pregnancy, postpartum, adoption, marriage, break ups, loss, and career transitions.

I am a psychodynamic therapist, which means I believe in the power of understanding how your current feelings and behaviors are shaped by your past experiences and your unconscious mind. The unconscious mind includes thoughts, emotions, and personal experiences that remain out of your conscious awareness. I believe that it is the unconscious mind that is the primary driving force behind our deepest feelings and behaviors. I also use a relational approach to therapy, viewing the therapeutic relationship as the agent that leads to lasting change.

I am here to help you recognize and celebrate your truth. You are the expert of your experiences. I am committed to providing a welcoming, caring, and respectful environment in which you can feel free to express and process your feelings, no matter how painful or uncomfortable, for the purposes of reducing distress and leading a fuller life. Working collaboratively, you and I can redefine what your relationship to yourself and others can look like through real talk, re-examination and recognition.

In addition, I offer mentorship for graduate students studying clinical psychology, and can help people process psychedelic experiences, working to integrate insights or cope with challenging feelings that may arise.
